Rajesh Power Services has secured a ₹1,628.74-crore turnkey contract from Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) to replace existing overhead electricity distribution networks with underground cables across multiple locations in Gujarat. The project will be executed over 24 months and includes SCADA-compatible equipment under DGVCL’s SI Scheme, the company said in an exchange statement on Wednesday.
The order covers the conversion of existing 11 kV and 22 kV high-tension networks, along with low-tension overhead networks, into underground cable systems. Rajesh Power said the work would involve the modernisation of electricity distribution infrastructure rather than the construction of a new transmission corridor.
With the contract, the company’s aggregate order book has risen from approximately ₹4,000 crore to ₹5,400 crore, an increase of around 35 per cent, according to the statement. The project is the latest in a series of orders secured by the engineering, procurement and construction company from power distribution utilities.
The contract follows a ₹471.92-crore order previously awarded by Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), another state power distribution company. Together, the orders point to continuing procurement by Gujarat’s distribution utilities for network upgrades and related electrical infrastructure.
DGVCL’s project is centred on undergrounding both high-tension and low-tension distribution networks. These networks form the part of the electricity system that carries power through local distribution infrastructure to consumers. The order also specifies SCADA-compatible equipment, linking the physical cable conversion with systems that can support supervisory control and data acquisition functions.
The project announcement follows Rajesh Power’s reported financial performance for the first half of FY27. The company’s consolidated profit after tax rose 35 per cent year on year to ₹79.22 crore, compared with ₹58.8 crore in the second quarter of FY26. Total income increased 46 per cent to ₹931.8 crore during April-September FY27.
The company attributed the revenue growth to the execution of projects involving gas-insulated and air-insulated substations, as well as transmission lines. Its operations cover power transmission and distribution EPC work, with a presence in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha.
The order also affected the company’s stock during the trading session. Rajesh Power shares rose more than 3.6 per cent to touch ₹825 after the announcement, while the company’s market capitalisation stood at approximately ₹1,470 crore, according to the report.
The immediate implementation milestone is the completion of the DGVCL turnkey project within the stated 24-month period. The company’s exchange disclosure did not provide a location-wise breakup of the networks to be converted or a detailed construction schedule for the individual sites.
