Gujarat Clears Industrial Incentives for Rs 3,903 Crore Projects

Gujarat has approved final eligibility certificates for 25 industrial units linked to investments of Rs 3,903.3 crore and an estimated 8,178 jobs across eight districts, clearing the way for the projects to receive benefits under two state incentive frameworks.

The approvals were granted at a meeting of a high-level committee chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, according to an official statement reported by the Times of India. The units are located in Ahmedabad, Morbi, Bharuch, Kutch, Vadodara, Mehsana, Kheda and Surendranagar districts.

Of the 25 units, 22 will receive assistance under Gujarat’s Industrial Policy 2015. These projects represent investments of Rs 1,631.9 crore. The remaining three large units have been cleared under the Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme 2022, with investments of Rs 2,271.4 crore.

The approved projects cover automobiles, textiles, plastics, paper, chemicals, ceramics and metals. The spread of sectors indicates that the incentives are being applied across both manufacturing industries and established industrial clusters rather than being limited to a single segment.

Under the two policy frameworks, eligible industrial units can access financial support through net State Goods and Services Tax assistance, interest subsidies and reimbursement of Employees’ Provident Fund contributions. The final eligibility certificates establish the projects’ entitlement to these benefits under the applicable schemes.

The state’s announcement links the incentive approvals to investment and employment generation across districts. The estimated 8,178 jobs are associated with the 25 units, although the statement does not provide a project-wise employment breakdown, implementation schedule or details of when the incentives will be disbursed.

The approvals also show how Gujarat’s industrial policy combines an older framework, introduced in 2015, with the Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme launched in 2022. The Industrial Policy 2015 covers the larger group of approved units, while the newer scheme applies to three large projects accounting for Rs 2,271.4 crore of the total investment.

For the districts named in the announcement, the decision connects state revenue-linked support and employment incentives with industrial expansion in multiple parts of Gujarat. However, the supplied official statement does not identify the individual companies, plant locations within each district, expected commissioning dates or the value of incentives approved for each unit.

The next stage will involve the eligible units receiving support under the provisions of the respective policy frameworks. The state has not disclosed in the announcement a separate timeline for project completion, incentive disbursement or verification of the projected employment.
