Greater Noida to Host Major Multi-Modal Transport Hub

The Greater Noida Authority is set to advance its ambitious multi-modal transport hub (MMTH) project in Bodaki, as it awaits a comprehensive land use plan from Indian Railways. This transport facility aims to serve as a central nexus for rail, metro, and road travel, linking Greater Noida, Noida, and other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). The MMTH is expected to revolutionise public transport in the region by providing seamless connectivity across different modes of transportation.Last December, the MMTH was officially classified as a ‘special railway project,’ a status that promises to streamline land acquisition and construction approvals.

This designation is intended to expedite the planning process while boosting the region’s economic and transport infrastructure. A senior official from the Authority indicated that while discussions with the railways have advanced, the final development plan cannot proceed until the railways determine the scale of operations at Bodaki.“We are waiting for the railways to finalise their land requirements, based on the number of trains they intend to run from Bodaki. Only once this information is available can we move ahead with our own master plan,” the official stated. The government and railways have exchanged key technical data and design details, marking significant progress towards the hub’s construction.

The MMTH spans 117 hectares, divided into two primary zones. The first zone, covering 70 hectares, will include an interstate bus terminus (ISBT), local bus terminus (LBT), a metro station, and commercial properties. The second zone, which spans 47 hectares, will accommodate the railway station and further commercial developments. This vast infrastructure will be complemented by a coach maintenance yard and facilities to support railway operations. In terms of connectivity, the MMTH is strategically located between Greater Noida’s Integrated Industrial Township and the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub.

It is expected to alleviate congestion at crucial transit points like Anand Vihar Railway Station and ISBTs. Its proximity to the Delhi-Howrah railway line and the planned New Bodaki railway station will provide significant access to regional transport routes. Furthermore, road access to the hub will be improved by two proposed wide roads linking it to Knowledge Park I and major highways, while the Noida Metro Rail Corporation plans to extend its metro line to Bodaki. The project’s timely completion promises to ease congestion, enhance regional connectivity, and bolster Greater Noida’s standing as a key economic and transport hub in NCR.
