Greater Noida Install 2700 CCTV Cameras for Safer City

Greater Noida is set to install 2,700 CCTV cameras across the city. This move is part of the ambitious Safe City and Integrated Safety and Traffic Management System (ISTMS) project, which aims to integrate advanced surveillance technology and data analytics to enhance both security and traffic monitoring. The project is expected to provide a comprehensive solution for urban management, helping authorities tackle issues related to public safety, traffic congestion, and emergency responses.

With an investment of ₹227 crore, the project will include the establishment of an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) that will serve as the nerve centre for real-time monitoring of the city’s surveillance feeds.
The plan includes the installation of smart technologies such as video surveillance, an emergency response system, and a public information system. These technologies will be integrated into the city’s broader infrastructure, creating a seamless monitoring network to ensure efficient management of both public safety and traffic flow.

The ICCC, located in Knowledge Park IV, will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including 30 operator consoles, control desks, video walls, and officers’ cabins. This will allow authorities to oversee surveillance operations and coordinate traffic management more effectively. Additionally, all nine police stations in Greater Noida will have remote access to live footage, enabling them to respond swiftly to incidents in their respective jurisdictions.

The decision to integrate these technologies stems from the growing need to improve the efficiency of urban management in Greater Noida, which has seen rapid growth in both population and infrastructure in recent years. By deploying a cutting-edge surveillance system, officials aim to create a safer, smarter, and more secure environment for residents and visitors alike. As the project progresses, it is expected to not only enhance safety but also streamline traffic management, contributing to a more efficient urban ecosystem. However, the success of this initiative will largely depend on the swift and effective execution of the plan, with a transparent process for selecting the implementing agency set to begin soon.
