The Greater Noida Authority demolished illegal construction and freed around 20,000 square metres of land in Bhanota village on Monday, as officials acted against attempts to develop an unauthorised colony in the authority’s notified area. The land has been estimated to be worth approximately Rs 40 crore.
The action was carried out on land identified under Khasra numbers 282 and 283. According to Greater Noida Authority officials, colonisers were attempting to undertake illegal plotting and establish a residential colony on the site.
The demolition team operated under the direction of Vijay Kumar Rawal, deputy general manager in the project department. The team included Work Circle Two manager Rohit Gupta and other officials, with security personnel present during the operation. After removing the illegal construction, the authority took control of the land.
Greater Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer N.G. Ravi Kumar has directed officials to take strict action against encroachments in the notified area. The latest operation is part of continuing enforcement against unauthorised construction and land occupation across areas under the authority’s jurisdiction.
Officials also referred to a recent action in the floodplain area of Bisrakh, where the authority removed encroachments from 5,000 square metres of land identified under Khasra numbers 135 and 153. That operation was conducted under the leadership of Prabhat Shankar, in charge of Work Circle Three.
The authority’s warning is significant for prospective buyers in Greater Noida, where unauthorised colonies and illegal plotting can create uncertainty over land ownership, approvals and future construction rights. The authority has asked people to verify land details and the status of the site before purchasing property anywhere in Greater Noida.
Greater Noida Authority Additional Chief Executive Officer Sumit Yadav said no person is permitted to carry out illegal construction in the notified area. He urged buyers to contact the authority and obtain complete information before purchasing land, warning them not to risk their savings in unauthorised colonies.
The authority has not announced a separate timeline for further action in the areas mentioned in the report. Officials said enforcement against illegal construction and encroachments would continue in Greater Noida’s notified areas.
