The Gaya district administration has announced a special traffic plan for Durga Puja that will restrict vehicle movement, divert commercial traffic and introduce controlled entry points in Gaya and Bodh Gaya from Saturday to Wednesday.
Under the Gaya Durga Puja traffic plan, heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter Gaya city between 6 am and 3 am each day during the festival period. Movement of two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers will also be restricted on GB Road and Ramna Road, as well as on routes from Nadraganj towards Peermansoor, Kirani Ghat towards Dukhharni Temple and Ramna Road.
Heavy vehicle entry into Gaya town from Sikaria Mor will remain prohibited. Goods carriers, including trucks and pickup vans arriving from Patna, will be diverted through Ramshila More, Kujapi Nawada Mor and Mehta petrol pump towards their destinations. Vehicles will not be allowed to proceed on GB Road beyond the collectorate roundabout.
The administration has also specified separate routes for autos and e-rickshaws travelling between Sikaria Mor and Gaya railway station. On the onward journey, vehicles will use Gaya College Mor, Gewal Bigha Mor, Kashinath Mor, Nagmatiya Mor, Railway Hospital and Railway Crossing No. 1. On the return journey, they will travel through GRP Mor, Bata Mor, Swarajpuri Road, Kashinath Mor and Gewal Bigha Mor.
To regulate access and manage festival crowds, drop gates will be installed at several points, including Gaya College Sports Complex, the collectorate roundabout, Peer Mansoor Mor, Kiranighat, Bata Mor, Nagmatiya Mor, Kashinath Mor, Bhusunda Mor in Ghughritand Mor, Sikaria Mor, Ramshila Mor and Buniyadganj Bypass Mor.
Bodh Gaya will have a separate set of restrictions. Entry for all vehicles from Domuhan, Rajapur Mor and Gandhi Chowk will be restricted between 1 pm and 3 am. Heavy vehicles will face a wider restriction from 6 am to 3 am the following day.
The plan places the railway station, festival routes, major crossings and approach roads under different layers of traffic control rather than imposing a single city-wide closure. This means commuters, visitors and commercial operators will need to follow route-specific restrictions during the puja period. The district administration’s announced schedule will remain in force from Saturday through Wednesday.
