A 50-year-old man returning home from work was killed after a speeding Thar hit him near the Sikri flyover in Faridabad on Saturday evening, while the driver allegedly abandoned the vehicle and fled, according to a report by Live Hindustan – NCR.
The victim was identified as Shravan Kumar, a resident of Palwal who worked at Shivalik Printing in Sector 6, Ballabgarh. The collision took place at around 8 pm as he was returning home after finishing work. The impact left him seriously injured, and he was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to the report, the Thar driver did not remain at the scene after the crash. Police later reached the location and took possession of the vehicle. Investigators are using the vehicle’s registration number and other available information to identify and locate the driver.
Kumar’s family has questioned the immediate emergency response after the crash. His daughter Khushi said the family called the police twice seeking help and an ambulance, but was told to arrange an ambulance themselves. The account has been attributed to the family and has not been independently confirmed in the report.
Another daughter, Kanika, questioned why the driver had not been arrested despite the police having access to the vehicle and its registration details. The family has demanded that the accused driver be arrested soon.
Family members also alleged that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol. The allegation had not been confirmed at the time of the report. Police had not publicly established the driver’s identity or stated whether a medical examination or other formal process would confirm the allegation.
