Hansi police have arrested three men and seized 266.6 kg of explosive material from a vehicle in Charkhi Dadri after the occupants allegedly failed to produce licences or documents authorising its possession and transport, officials said.
The arrests were made by a CIA-1 team led by sub-inspector Kapil during a checkpoint operation within the jurisdiction of Hansi City police station. Police said the team was patrolling the area and gathering intelligence when it received information that explosive material was being transported in a vehicle.
Acting on the information, the team intercepted the vehicle and conducted a search. The occupants were identified by police as Aman, Kuldeep and Rakesh. According to the police account, all three were asked to produce the licences and other mandatory documents required for possessing and transporting the material, but failed to furnish them.
Police then seized both the vehicle and the explosive material and arrested the three occupants. A case has been registered at Hansi City police station under relevant sections of law, police said. The precise legal provisions were not specified in the report.
The seizure has placed the focus on the enforcement requirements governing the movement of explosive substances through populated areas. Such material can require formal authorisation and documentation, and police said the occupants could not establish that the consignment was being transported legally. The authorities have not disclosed the type or composition of the seized material.
The investigation is now examining where the explosive material came from, where it was being taken and why it was being transported. Police have not yet stated whether the material was linked to any construction, mining, industrial or other authorised activity, and no intended destination was identified in the information released.
Hansi superintendent of police Vinod Kumar said the police drive against illegal activities would continue. The authorities have not announced further arrests or provided details of the vehicle’s ownership. The case investigation remains underway, with the source, destination and purpose of the material still to be established.
