DS Jindal Group Unveils Russian Tech to Transform India’s Construction Industry

The DS Jindal Group has introduced Flujo, a brand of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) rebars, in collaboration with Russian entrepreneur Konstantin Gorchakov. This new line of non-corrosive rebars aims to address several challenges facing the construction sector, particularly the issue of material corrosion that significantly shortens the lifespan of infrastructure.

The Indian industrial giant, known for its expertise in steel and plastic pipes, is now making strides into the GFRP market. Flujo rebars represent a cutting-edge solution that promises to not only improve the quality of construction but also introduce a more sustainable, cost-effective alternative to traditional steel rebars.

The Managing Director of DS Jindal Group, this initiative combines global technological advancements with local industry needs. The collaboration with Konstantin Gorchakov, a seasoned international entrepreneur and General Partner at Blue Stones PE, has granted the Jindal Group access to state-of-the-art production techniques and machinery from Russia, ensuring that Flujo rebars meet the highest global standards. “The launch of Flujo is a significant step towards revolutionising the construction landscape in India. With our deep-rooted expertise and the support of cutting-edge technology, we aim to provide an advanced, non-corrosive alternative to TMT steel rebars,” said MD. The initiative is set to tackle the growing demands of modern construction while addressing the durability challenges posed by India’s diverse climate.

The strategic partnership also focuses on knowledge transfer, workforce training, and engineering support, equipping DS Jindal Group with the tools to meet international production standards. With the first production unit already operational in North India, the company plans to expand with 12 more facilities across the country by 2026. By 2030, the group aims to capture the largest market share in the Indian GFRP rebar segment. GFRP rebars are gaining traction due to their exceptional properties, particularly their resistance to corrosion, which makes them ideal for use in coastal, marine, and water-exposed structures. These rebars are lightweight, strong, and offer better longevity compared to traditional steel, reducing the need for frequent repairs and replacements. The environmental impact of GFRP is also lower, as it eliminates the need for energy-intensive steel production.

As a sustainable alternative, Flujo’s GFRP rebars align with India’s ambitious infrastructure goals, which include the construction of more resilient and long-lasting buildings and roads. The use of GFRP in India could significantly reduce maintenance costs, especially in coastal cities like Mumbai and Chennai, where steel rebars often face rapid deterioration due to the salty, humid environment. Konstantin Gorchakov, who brings extensive experience in introducing GFRP technologies to markets across Russia, Africa, and now India, expressed confidence in the potential of Flujo to reshape the Indian construction sector. “Partnering with DS Jindal Group enables us to bring advanced Russian technologies to India, offering a sustainable and cost-effective solution to modern construction challenges,” he said. As the Indian market braces for a boom in infrastructure development, the DS Jindal Group’s Flujo GFRP rebars are poised to play a critical role in the future of construction in India, offering a durable, eco-friendly, and cost-effective alternative to traditional building materials. The company’s goal to lead the Indian GFRP rebar market by 2030 is ambitious, but with the backing of world-class technology and a clear vision, the venture is set to set new standards in the industry.
