Diveghat traffic will be completely closed in both directions for two hours on Friday, October 23, to allow controlled blasting for the widening of the Alandi-Pandharpur Palkhi highway, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Pune city traffic police have announced.
The closure will be in force from 12 noon to 2 pm as construction teams carry out blasting in the difficult, rocky section of the ghat. Authorities said the restriction is being imposed as a safety measure for motorists and other members of the public.
The affected stretch falls within the Hadapsar-Diveghat section of the Palkhi highway, where widening work is under way. The project involves expanding the road through a challenging hill section, requiring controlled blasting to remove rock and create space for the upgraded roadway.
All types of traffic will be stopped during the two-hour period. Motorists travelling towards Saswad, Jejuri or Pune have been asked to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes during the closure.
The temporary restriction is expected to affect vehicles using Diveghat between noon and 2 pm, making journey timing important for commuters, commercial vehicles and other travellers using the Pune-Saswad connection. Authorities have appealed to drivers to cooperate with traffic personnel and follow diversion instructions to maintain orderly movement on surrounding routes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, Dr Sandeep Bhajibhakare, also appealed to motorists to cooperate with the traffic management arrangements. NHAI and the traffic police have advised travellers to avoid reaching the ghat during the blasting window and to use alternative routes through Saswad, Jejuri or Pune as appropriate.
