South Central Railway has launched a month-long Digital Life Certificate Campaign 5.0 to help pensioners submit the mandatory annual certificate from home and avoid visits to pension-disbursing offices. The campaign will run from November 1 to 30.
Pensioners are required to submit their life certificates during November to ensure that their pension payments continue without interruption. Under the digital facility, they can complete the process using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication from their homes.
The system is intended to make the annual verification process more accessible while improving the security of pension records. By using biometric authentication, the process can reduce the need for in-person visits and lower the risk of fraudulent pension claims, according to the information released by South Central Railway.
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, in collaboration with the Unique Identification Authority of India and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, has also introduced face authentication for government pensioners. The feature is designed to simplify digital life certificate submissions further.
South Central Railway unveiled posters for the campaign on Wednesday as part of its effort to inform pensioners about the facility. The home-based option is particularly relevant for elderly beneficiaries and those who may face difficulties travelling to pension-disbursing offices for an annual administrative requirement.
More than 1.09 crore digital life certificates were generated during 2025-26, with usage increasing across successive campaigns. The latest drive will remain open through November 30, giving eligible pensioners the campaign period to complete their annual submission.
