Delhi Special Trains Add Festival Relief for Katra, Reengus Routes

Indian Railways has announced special trains from Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Reengus during the festival season, offering additional travel options as regular services face heavier demand and confirmed tickets become difficult to secure.

The special train from New Delhi to Katra will depart at 11:45 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, reaching Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at noon the following day. On the return journey, it will leave Katra at 9 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays and arrive at New Delhi at 10 am the next day.

According to the announcement reported by Jagran – New Delhi, the Katra-bound service will stop at Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantonment, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantonment, Pathankot Cantonment, Jammu Tawi and Balidani Captain Tushar Mahajan Udhampur railway stations. These stops connect the additional service with major passenger catchments across Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir and the National Capital Region.

A separate special train will operate between Old Delhi and Reengus Junction, serving passengers travelling towards the Khatu Shyam pilgrimage destination. It will depart from Old Delhi at 6:50 pm on Fridays and reach Reengus at 12:40 am. On the return journey, the train will leave Reengus at 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays and reach Old Delhi at 7 am.

The Reengus service will stop at Delhi Sarai Rohilla, Delhi Cantonment, Gurgaon, Pataudi Road, Rewari, Narnaul and Neem Ka Thana. The route provides additional rail connectivity from Delhi through parts of Haryana before reaching Reengus in Rajasthan.

The announcement comes as festival travel increases pressure on railway capacity and passengers face limited availability of confirmed tickets. By adding services on routes linked to Katra and Reengus, the railway system is addressing demand concentrated around major religious destinations rather than relying only on regular scheduled trains.

The details reported so far specify the operating days, departure and arrival timings, and station halts for both services. Passengers will need to check the applicable railway booking and operational information before planning their journeys, while the announced schedules establish the immediate framework for the festival-period services.
