Delhi’s election office will hold special SIR camps at every polling station and at universities and colleges across the capital as the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls enters its final phase, according to an official letter issued by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi.
The camps at polling station locations will be held on October 4 and October 11 from 10 am to 5 pm. Separate camps at colleges and universities will take place on October 7 and 8 from 9 am to 3 pm, the letter said.
The decision has been taken to maximise the enrolment of eligible electors in Delhi’s electoral rolls. The initiative gives residents additional access points to participate in the revision process, particularly through polling station locations and educational institutions.
The Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi, has directed all 13 District Election Officers to ensure that the camps are organised across the city. The direction places responsibility for citywide coordination with the district election administration as the revision process moves towards its scheduled conclusion.
Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers in all 70 assembly constituencies have also been instructed to ensure full participation in the camps being held at polling station locations and educational institutions. Their involvement covers the electoral administration across every assembly constituency in the capital.
The camps are being organised while the SIR exercise enters its final phase. Under the revised schedule published by the Delhi CEO’s office, claims and objections will be disposed of up to October 3. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 7, according to the report.
The timing creates a short window for eligible residents to use the designated camps while the revision process is being completed. The polling station camps will operate before and after the October 7 publication date, while the college and university camps are scheduled for October 7 and 8.
The official instructions indicate that the administration is using both permanent electoral locations and educational institutions to widen access to the revision exercise. The final implementation of the schedule will depend on coordination between the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, the 13 district election officers and the election registration officials assigned to Delhi’s 70 assembly constituencies.
