Security teams searched multiple Delhi schools and a civic facility on Monday after threatening emails and calls warned of bomb attacks, prompting evacuations and the deployment of police, fire personnel, bomb-disposal teams and sniffer dogs. A second call concerning Navy Children’s School in Chanakyapuri was received at 10.34 am, followed by a call from Bal Bharati School in Sector 14, Rohini, at 10.50 am.
The report also named Springdales School, Salwan Public School and Bal Bharati Public School under the Rajendra Nagar police station area, as well as St Thomas School and Juniors School in the Karol Bagh police station area. A similar threatening email was reported at the Civic Centre, which falls under the Kamla Market police station area.
The emails reportedly claimed that Delhi would be turned into Khalistan and threatened to bomb schools. They also advised people not to travel on trains entering or leaving Delhi between September 21 and 29, while alleging that improvised explosive devices would be planted on railway tracks between Punjab and Delhi.
