Delhi Police Traces 70 Missing People Under Operation Milap

The Delhi Police’s South-West district team traced 70 missing people, including 23 children, and reunited them with their families during Operation Milap between October 1 and October 31, according to a report by Millennium Post. The operation used local investigations, CCTV checks, transport networks and coordination with police stations and hospitals to locate the missing people.

The 70 people traced during the month included 47 adults and 23 children, comprising boys and girls. Police said 69 of those located had been reported missing in 2026, while one adult man had gone missing in 2025. The department said the operation was intended to ensure that missing people were safely returned and provide relief to their families.

The South-West district police said they have traced 1,299 missing people between January 1 and October 31. This wider figure includes 341 children and 958 adults. The numbers indicate the scale of missing-person complaints handled by district police teams and the continuing need for coordinated searches across Delhi’s neighbourhoods and transport systems.

Police teams followed several methods during the operation. These included investigating cases locally, examining CCTV footage and circulating photographs of missing people among auto-rickshaw and e-rickshaw drivers, bus operators and railway station personnel. Officers also spoke to bus drivers, conductors and local vendors, while police informants were used to gather information. Teams checked with local police stations and hospitals as part of the search process.

Kapashera police station recorded the highest number of recoveries among the units mentioned in the report, tracing five missing minor girls and 13 adults. Palam Village police traced two children and seven adults, while Vasant Kunj South police located three children and eight adults. Sagarpur police traced one minor girl and seven adults.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit traced six children, including one boy and five girls, along with two adult women. The operation also recorded recoveries by R.K. Puram, South Campus, Vasant Kunj North, Vasant Vihar, S.J. Enclave and Kishangarh police stations, although the report did not provide individual figures for each of these units.

The operation shows how missing-person searches depend on more than station-level case registration. Police teams used information from public transport workers, vendors, hospitals, railway stations and neighbourhood networks, alongside formal investigative tools such as CCTV footage. These links are particularly important in a large city where people can move quickly across police-station boundaries and transport corridors.

The South-West district police’s January-to-October figures also place the monthly operation within a continuing administrative effort rather than a single isolated search. The department said its focus remained on tracing missing people and safely restoring contact with their families. No further operational timeline was provided in the report.
