Residents of Delhi-NCR are likely to experience another day of generally cloudy skies with intermittent light rainfall as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts continued monsoon activity across the region. Weather officials have also issued a yellow alert for parts of the National Capital Region, cautioning that isolated areas could receive moderate to heavy showers that may temporarily disrupt daily life.
According to the latest forecast, scattered spells of light rain are expected through the day, accompanied by surface winds of around 20–30 km/h. While widespread heavy rainfall is not anticipated across the entire city, localised downpours may lead to waterlogging on low-lying roads and slower traffic during peak commuting hours. The active southwest monsoon continues to influence weather conditions over northern India, with Delhi-NCR remaining under a generally wet pattern. IMD’s outlook indicates that rainfall activity is likely to persist over the next several days, with the possibility of moderate showers becoming more frequent early next week.
Urban planners note that even brief but intense monsoon showers can place pressure on city infrastructure, affecting road transport, public transit and drainage systems. Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious while travelling, particularly in areas that are prone to temporary flooding or traffic congestion during heavy rain.
Meteorologists also expect daytime temperatures to remain relatively moderate because of cloud cover, while humidity will stay high, maintaining typical monsoon conditions across the region. Residents are advised to monitor official weather updates before planning outdoor activities and allow extra travel time during periods of rainfall.
