Delhi Mobile Snatching Caught on Camera in Mukherjee Nagar

A Delhi mobile snatching incident in Mukherjee Nagar was captured on CCTV after a woman travelling pillion on a motorcycle allegedly took a phone from a businessman speaking near his car on Monday night. Police have registered an FIR and are searching for the two people seen in the footage.

The complainant, identified as 40-year-old Mohammad Ashu, lives with his family in Ghaziabad and had come to Mukherjee Nagar for business-related work. According to the report, he had bought goods from a sweet shop in Bhai Parmanand Colony before walking towards his car parked across the road.

Ashu was speaking on his mobile phone beside the car when the motorcycle approached him. CCTV footage reportedly shows a man riding the motorcycle and a woman sitting behind him. The woman was not wearing a helmet, while the man was wearing a white cap, according to the details reported from the footage.

The pair are seen noticing Ashu while he was on the phone and stopping the motorcycle some distance away. After a brief exchange, the rider turned the motorcycle and passed close to the complainant. The woman then allegedly reached out and snatched the phone from Ashu’s hand before the two fled the area.

Ashu informed the police after the incident. An FIR was subsequently registered, and investigators are using the CCTV footage to identify and locate the two suspects. The report does not specify the sections of law invoked or the value of the phone.

The footage places the incident in a familiar urban setting: a person standing beside a parked vehicle while using a phone, and a two-wheeler approaching from the road. The available account establishes the reported sequence of events but does not provide details about whether the phone has been recovered, whether the suspects have been identified, or whether any arrest has been made.

The investigation remains focused on tracing the motorcycle-borne suspects through the CCTV material. Police action on the case, including identification, recovery and arrests, will determine the next stage of the inquiry.
