Cyclone Murasu Grounds Flights Across Four Andhra Airports

Cyclone Murasu disrupted flight operations at four airports in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, with airlines cancelling or diverting services amid adverse weather conditions affecting air links from Bhogapuram, Vijayawada, Rajamahendravaram and Tirupati.

At Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, four flights were cancelled. The affected services included IndiGo flights 6E7730 from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada, 6E7702 from Visakhapatnam to Tirupati and 6E716 from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad. Air India Express flight IX2413 from Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada was also cancelled.

Vijayawada International Airport recorded further disruption, with Air India cancelling 10 flights to destinations including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kurnool. Air India Express cancelled two additional flights, while Fly91 continued to operate its services as scheduled.

At Rajamahendravaram airport, Air India cancelled all five scheduled flights for November 2 and November 3 as a precautionary measure. The cancelled services covered routes including Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai. Fly91 services at the airport continued to operate according to schedule.

Tirupati airport saw three IndiGo flights cancelled. The affected routes were Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru, according to the report. The cancellations were made as airlines responded to weather conditions associated with the cyclone.

Airports Authority of India officials said airlines were informing passengers in advance about cancellations, delays and diversions. The officials said passengers were reaching the airports accordingly and that no major inconvenience had been reported.

The airports remained operational, even as airlines cancelled or diverted flights as a precaution. The cancellations at Rajamahendravaram were scheduled to continue through November 3, while the status of other services depended on weather conditions and airline operating decisions.
