Commercial LPG prices have risen by Rs 10 per 19-kilogram cylinder from 1 November, increasing operating costs for restaurants, hotels, food outlets and other commercial kitchens during the Diwali season. The price of the 14.2-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has been kept unchanged.
After the latest revision, a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder costs Rs 2,820 in Delhi, according to Aaj Tak Business. The increase follows a Rs 65 rise announced on 1 October, when the Delhi price reached Rs 2,810.
The monthly revision affects businesses that use commercial cylinders for cooking and food preparation. Aaj Tak Business reported that the higher fuel cost could feed into food prices at hotels, restaurants and other eating establishments, although the report did not specify whether individual businesses had announced revised menu prices.
The latest increase reverses part of the relief seen during July and August. Commercial LPG prices were reduced by a combined Rs 380 during those two months, after a sharp increase earlier in the year. On 1 May, the Delhi price of a 19-kilogram cylinder rose to approximately Rs 3,071.50 after an increase of nearly Rs 1,000 within the month, according to the report.
The sequence of revisions leaves commercial users exposed to frequent changes in a key operating input. For urban food businesses, LPG is directly linked to cooking operations, making the monthly price announcement relevant not only to establishments but also to the cost of prepared food and catering services. The available report does not provide a breakdown of how much LPG contributes to the final cost of a meal or how businesses are absorbing the latest increase.
Domestic consumers have not faced a corresponding increase in the 14.2-kilogram cylinder price. The cylinder remains priced at Rs 942 in Delhi, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, Rs 957.50 in Chennai and Rs 968 in Kolkata, as reported by Aaj Tak Business.
The report also listed prices for 5-kilogram Free Trade LPG cylinders. A new connection costs Rs 1,903, while a 5-kilogram refill is priced at Rs 782. These smaller cylinders serve a different user segment from the standard domestic and commercial formats.
The latest revision took effect on 1 November, continuing the monthly pattern in which oil marketing companies revise commercial LPG prices while keeping the domestic cylinder rate unchanged. The next scheduled monthly revision will determine whether commercial users see another increase, a reduction or no change in December.
