The Government of Maharashtra has extended the amnesty scheme facilitated by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) until August 15, 2024. Initially scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2024, the scheme offers a 50% discount on delayed payment charges and additional lease amounts, alongside an extension of payment timelines.
The extension comes in response to delays caused by the model code of conduct enforced during recent elections, which diverted resources and attention from the Estate Department responsible for processing scheme applications. Sources within CIDCO indicated that despite efforts to expedite pending proposals, the administrative backlog necessitated an extension to accommodate resident demands.
Elected representatives including former minister Ganesh Naik, Airoli MLA Prashant Thakur, and Uran MLA Mahesh Baldi advocated for the extension, underscoring its importance in easing financial burdens for constituents. Their efforts included formal submissions to the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Asim Kumar Gupta, urging considerations for the scheme’s continuation.
