The Government of Maharashtra has extended the amnesty scheme facilitated by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) until August 15, 2024. Initially scheduled to conclude on June 30, 2024, the scheme offers a 50% discount on delayed payment charges and additional lease amounts, alongside an extension of payment timelines.
The extension comes in response to delays caused by the model code of conduct enforced during recent elections, which diverted resources and attention from the Estate Department responsible for processing scheme applications. Sources within CIDCO indicated that despite efforts to expedite pending proposals, the administrative backlog necessitated an extension to accommodate resident demands.
Elected representatives including former minister Ganesh Naik, Airoli MLA Prashant Thakur, and Uran MLA Mahesh Baldi advocated for the extension, underscoring its importance in easing financial burdens for constituents. Their efforts included formal submissions to the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development Department, Asim Kumar Gupta, urging considerations for the scheme’s continuation.
Responding to these appeals, Gupta acknowledged the pressing need and granted the extension, recognizing the scheme’s role in providing significant financial relief to residents grappling with economic uncertainties exacerbated by the pandemic and administrative disruptions.
The CIDCO amnesty scheme remains pivotal in supporting homeowners and lessees by alleviating financial penalties and facilitating smoother compliance with lease obligations. By extending the deadline, the government aims to ensure that maximum benefits reach eligible beneficiaries, fostering greater financial stability and compliance across Navi Mumbai.
This decision underscores the government’s commitment to responsive governance and its recognition of local challenges in accessing administrative services during critical periods. As residents prepare to capitalize on the extended opportunity, the CIDCO’s efforts are poised to mitigate financial stress and promote inclusive development in the region.
As the amended deadline approaches, stakeholders anticipate a surge in applications seeking relief under the scheme, reflecting its vital role in addressing immediate financial concerns and fostering a conducive environment for residential and commercial stakeholders alike in Navi Mumbai.
