Two developers accused in the Bhayandar land fraud case surrendered before the Mira Bhayandar court on Friday after the Supreme Court cancelled their anticipatory bail, according to a report by Loksatta. The case concerns an alleged attempt to claim rights over about 1,813.62 square metres of land in Bhayandar using forged documents.
The accused have been identified as Khetsingh Takhtsingh Medtiya and Suresh Kumar Siddharth. A case was registered at Nayanagar police station in connection with allegations that documents, including purported powers of attorney from 1975 and 2005, were used to support a 2007 land sale and development agreement.
According to the report, a land sale agreement was registered in 2025, followed by a confirmation deed. The allegations relate to the use of these documents to establish rights over the Bhayandar property. The case was filed after a complaint by Sohan Kanwar Shivraj Singh.
The Bombay High Court had earlier granted anticipatory bail to both accused. The complainant challenged that decision before the Supreme Court. During a hearing on August 19, 2026, the Supreme Court cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to the two developers.
The Supreme Court also observed that custodial interrogation was necessary to recover important original documents held by the accused, according to the report. Following the court’s direction, both developers appeared before the Mira Bhayandar court and surrendered.
The court has clarified that the accused can apply for regular bail only after the police custody interrogation is completed and they are subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is being conducted by Rajendra Kamble, senior police inspector at Kashimira police station.
The allegations have not been established in a final trial. The next stage of the case will involve the police investigation, including the recovery and examination of original land documents and other records linked to the disputed property.
