Bharat Taxi Jaipur Sets 5,000-Ride Target as Usage Remains Low

Bharat Taxi Jaipur has set a target of reaching 5,000 daily rides by December 31, 2026, after the platform was found to be averaging fewer than 1,000 rides a day despite having 53,766 registered drivers.

The target was announced after Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas reviewed the state cooperative department-run platform at Nehru Sahakar Bhawan on Sunday. Srinivas expressed concern over the decline in daily rides and called for concrete measures to make the service more efficient, competitive and accessible to passengers.

“There is a need for concrete, result-oriented measures to make the platform more efficient, competitive and accessible to the public,” Srinivas said during the review meeting.

He directed Bharat Taxi CEO Vivek Pandey to establish a dedicated team, develop an incentive model and prepare and implement a comprehensive marketing and action plan within 15 days. Srinivas also examined the Bharat Taxi app on his mobile phone and asked officials to improve its functioning and user experience.

The review focused on the gap between the platform’s registered driver base and its actual ride volumes. With fewer than 1,000 daily rides, the current average represents less than one ride per day for every 50 registered drivers, although the available report does not specify how many drivers are active or accepting bookings.

Srinivas instructed officials to review every ride and ensure that the service provides safe, reliable and affordable transportation for passengers. The directions place the platform’s app performance, service quality and driver incentives at the centre of the planned expansion.

To increase public awareness, officials were asked to promote Bharat Taxi at railway stations, bus stands and other prominent public places using standees. The administration also plans to use social media influencers and strengthen marketing efforts with support from the Jaipur Municipal Corporation.

The directions extend beyond publicity. Srinivas asked officials to coordinate with the police, transport department, municipal corporation and the dairy sector to secure institutional support and expand the platform’s operations. The report did not specify the funding required for the marketing plan, the proposed incentive structure or the indicators that will be used to measure app performance and ride quality.

The 5,000-ride target will therefore depend on whether the proposed measures can convert the platform’s registered driver capacity into regular passenger demand. The first formal milestone is the 15-day deadline for the dedicated team’s incentive, marketing and action plan.
