Mumbai’s public transportation landscape is set for a significant transformation as the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking rolls out an extensive last-mile connectivity plan for the upcoming Metro 3 corridor.
This initiative aims to bridge the gap between Metro stations and key residential, commercial, and business hubs across South Mumbai. The Metro 3 line, stretching from Dharavi to Cuffe Parade, will encompass 17 stations, including prominent areas such as Lower Parel, Worli, Dadar, and Nariman Point. To facilitate seamless commuter access, BEST has proposed operating 79 buses across 28 routes, ensuring connectivity to vital locales like Navy Nagar, Colaba, Gateway of India, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).
This strategic move addresses the pressing need for efficient last-mile connectivity, a challenge that has previously hindered the full potential of Mumbai’s metro network. By integrating bus services with Metro stations, commuters will experience reduced travel times and enhanced convenience, aligning with the city’s vision of sustainable urban mobility.
