Karnataka has initiated work on a three-lane twin tunnel corridor connecting Hebbal Flyover and the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) Quarters, marking a significant investment in Bengaluru’s transport infrastructure. The project is intended to improve traffic movement along one of the city’s busiest northern corridors while supporting long-term urban mobility and regional connectivity.
The proposed underground corridor is designed to provide an alternative route for through traffic, reducing pressure on surface roads that experience chronic congestion during peak hours. By separating long-distance vehicular movement from local traffic, planners expect the tunnel to improve travel efficiency and enhance connectivity between northern Bengaluru and key commercial, residential and institutional zones.
