Bengaluru Traffic Jam Worsens as Dasara Rush Meets Rain

Bengaluru traffic jam conditions worsened across major roads on Friday night and Saturday as Dasara travellers left the city, while evening rain further slowed vehicles and caused waterlogging on some stretches. Drivers and passengers reported difficulty moving through several key corridors and transport hubs.

Traffic was particularly heavy on Tumakuru Road, where vehicles queued from Goraguntepalya through Nagasandra and towards Nelamangala. The Peenya flyover also saw long lines of vehicles. On Mysuru Road, travellers heading towards the expressway took considerable time to reach it because of the congestion.

Heavy traffic was also reported around Majestic on Saturday night, with large crowds at the railway station, Shantinagar bus station and Yeshwanthpur railway station. Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and private buses were packed with passengers travelling to different destinations.

The congestion extended along Hosur Road and Ballari Road, where large numbers of private cars and two-wheelers joined the outbound traffic. Many residents travelled in their own vehicles on Friday and Saturday nights, adding to the pressure on routes leading out of the city. Police personnel worked to keep vehicles moving through the affected stretches.

Rain that began on Saturday evening made the situation worse. Although the rainfall was not described as intense, water accumulated on some roads, creating additional difficulties for motorists. Drizzle continued until late at night.

Many travellers were headed towards destinations including Dharmasthala, Udupi, Mangaluru, Horanadu and Sringeri. In response to the Dasara rush, KSRTC operated special services, including Karnataka Sarige, Rajahamsa, sleeper, Airavata, Airavata Club Class, EV Power Plus, Ambari Club Class, Ambari Utsav and Pallakki buses to various cities. Police deployment was strengthened at railway and bus stations as passenger numbers rose.
