The Salem Railway Division has announced a Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram special train for Deepavali travel, with services scheduled to connect Bengaluru Cantonment and Thiruvananthapuram North through key stations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The special service will operate on November 5, with a return journey scheduled for November 7.
The train will depart from Bengaluru Cantonment at 4.40 pm on November 5 and is scheduled to reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 10.30 am the following day, according to the announcement reported by Dinamalar. The service is intended to provide additional rail capacity during the festival travel period, when demand on major intercity routes typically rises.
On the Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram journey, the train will stop at Salem at 10.20 pm, Erode at 11.20 pm, Tiruppur at 12.20 am and Podanur at 1.44 am. These stops give passengers from major towns in western Tamil Nadu an additional option for travelling towards Kerala during the holiday period.
The return service will leave Thiruvananthapuram North at 12.40 pm on November 7 and is scheduled to reach Bengaluru Cantonment at 6 am the next day. On this route, the train will stop at Podanur at 8.59 pm, Tiruppur at 9.38 pm, Erode at 10.20 pm and Salem at 11.25 pm.
The announcement places Salem, Erode, Tiruppur and Podanur within a single seasonal rail connection between Bengaluru and the Kerala capital. For passengers, the published timings provide a basis for planning onward travel, station access and local connections around the festival period. The schedule also shows that the train will serve the corridor overnight in both directions.
The additional service comes as Indian cities and railway-linked regions manage sharp seasonal fluctuations in passenger movement. Special trains are used to supplement regular services during high-demand periods, although the announcement supplied by the railway division does not include details on the train number, coach composition, fares, reservation availability or ticketing arrangements.
The Salem Railway Division has announced the departure and arrival timings and the intermediate stops for the service. Passengers will need to confirm booking availability and the final operating details through official railway channels before making travel arrangements.
