A suspicious bomb-like object found near Sonnenahalli Circle in Bengaluru’s Jnanabharathi area on Saturday morning was examined by police and bomb disposal personnel and found to contain no explosive material, authorities said.
The object was discovered in an open plot near the circle, creating concern among local residents who suspected it could be an explosive device. The object had red tape wrapped around it and several wires attached, according to the report, which made it appear potentially dangerous.
Residents alerted the emergency response number 112 after noticing the object. Personnel from the Jnanabharathi police station and the bomb disposal squad reached the location and examined it. Their inspection confirmed that no explosives were present inside the object.
Police found that three pipes had been joined together in a configuration resembling a crude bomb. The arrangement had apparently been placed or discarded in a way that caused public alarm, although the authorities have not established who made or left it there.
An unidentified police official told Prajavani that the object appeared to have been prepared in the form of a crude bomb to frighten people. The official said an investigation was under way to identify those responsible.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh also confirmed that the examination found no explosive material in the suspicious object. The investigation will focus on tracing who brought and abandoned it near Sonnenahalli Circle.
The incident highlights the role of residents and emergency services in responding to objects that imitate explosive devices in public or accessible spaces. In this case, the police response included both local station personnel and specialist bomb disposal staff before the area-wide concern was resolved.
Authorities have not reported any injuries, damage or disruption linked to the object. Further action will depend on the investigation into its origin and the circumstances in which it was left at the site.
