Bengaluru police transferred 31 Bangladeshi nationals detained across the city to Malda in West Bengal on Monday for further procedures linked to their deportation, according to a report by Deccan Herald.
The detainees were taken from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru after being detained by 10 different police stations. Police had booked air-conditioned coaches in advance for the journey, the report said.
Twenty police personnel escorted the group on the train, which left SMVT on Monday. Senior police officials were also present at the railway station and instructed the escort team to ensure that the detainees reached their destination safely.
The escort personnel were directed to take precautions to prevent any untoward incident during the journey. The group was expected to reach Malda Railway Station at around 5 pm on Tuesday.
After reaching Malda, the detainees are to be handed over to the authorities in West Bengal. Further procedures related to their deportation will be handled there, according to the report.
