Bengaluru Police Housing Gets ₹41.5-Crore Infrastructure Boost

Bengaluru police personnel have received a new housing complex near Anand Rao Circle, with the Karnataka government saying it will continue strengthening residential and welfare facilities for police staff and their families.

Home Minister Priyank Kharge inaugurated the complex on Thursday and said providing a secure and supportive living environment for the families of personnel who serve public safety was the government’s responsibility. He said further steps would continue to improve housing and welfare facilities for police staff.

Built under the Police Gruha 2025 scheme, the complex consists of two residential blocks, each containing 64 housing units. Together, the buildings provide 128 homes for police constables.

Each block has a ground floor and seven upper floors. The project has a total built-up area of 11,944.30 square metres and an estimated cost of ₹41.50 crore, according to the details shared at the inauguration.

The project adds residential capacity for police personnel in a city where access to centrally located housing is closely linked to the functioning of public services. By placing the complex near Anand Rao Circle, the development is part of Bengaluru’s existing urban fabric rather than an isolated housing expansion outside the city.

Kharge said police personnel put their lives at risk while serving public safety and that their families should be able to live in a peaceful environment. The minister described the newly built homes as part of the government’s effort to provide better-equipped residential facilities.

The housing complex is also an example of how departmental infrastructure can combine employee welfare with the operational needs of a major city. Police staff require housing that supports continuity of service, while the government must plan, finance and deliver such facilities through dedicated public construction programmes.

The inauguration was chaired by local MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao. The event marked the completion and opening of the two-block residential development under Police Gruha 2025. The government’s stated next step is to continue taking measures to strengthen housing and welfare facilities for police personnel.
