Aero India Show 2025, residents and travellers in Bengaluru are being urged to prepare for significant airspace closures at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). The airport, located on the outskirts of the city, will be affected by restrictions in the lead-up to and during the event, which runs from February 10 to 14, 2025.

From February 5, passengers flying through Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport will experience disruptions, with the airport remaining closed for a total of 29 hours across 10 days due to the Aero India Show. The show, which is set to be held at Yelahanka Air Force Station, is one of the country’s premier aerospace exhibitions, drawing both civilian and military aviation professionals from around the world. According to the advisory issued by the Bengaluru airport authorities, airspace restrictions will apply to different periods over the next two weeks. The airport will experience intermittent shutdowns, typically lasting between 2 to 3 hours at a time. Passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for any changes or updates to flight schedules to avoid any inconvenience.

For travellers planning to fly through Bengaluru during this period, the key takeaway is that flight schedules will be impacted. The airport advisory encourages passengers to contact their airlines directly for information on revised or updated flight timings, as several flights may be rescheduled or rerouted due to the airspace restrictions. Airlines are expected to accommodate affected passengers, but the disruptions could still cause considerable inconvenience, especially for those with tight travel schedules or those planning to catch connecting flights.

A spokesperson from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport explained, “We urge all passengers to stay updated with travel advisories from traffic enforcement agencies. Planning your journey to and from the airport during this period is crucial to avoid delays.” The Aero India Show is expected to attract a large number of aviation enthusiasts, professionals, and defence personnel. As one of the largest airshows in Asia, it will showcase a variety of military and civilian aircraft, along with the latest aerospace technologies. Due to the event’s scale and significance, the airport’s temporary closure is essential to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the aerial displays and other events taking place at Yelahanka.

With the airport closures coinciding with the peak travel season, residents and frequent flyers have voiced mixed reactions. While many recognise the importance of such an event for India’s aerospace sector and international prestige, others are concerned about the disruptions to their travel plans. Ravi Kumar, a Bengaluru-based businessman, expressed his frustration: “I’ve got an important trip planned during those dates, and now I’ll have to make alternate arrangements. It’s inconvenient, but I understand it’s for a good cause.” On the other hand, Anjali Shah, a frequent traveller, shared her optimism, saying, “It’s great to see Bengaluru host such a major event. I’m sure it will bring recognition to the city. However, better communication on flight rescheduling would help reduce confusion.” As Bengaluru prepares for the grandeur of the Aero India Show 2025, travellers and residents are advised to keep a close eye on updated air traffic advisories. While the event will undoubtedly put the city in the global spotlight, the disruptions at Kempegowda International Airport are a reminder of the balancing act required to host such high-profile events. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead, stay informed, and be patient as airspace restrictions impact air travel across the city.
