Bandra Car Accident: Court Rejects Megha Rawal’s Bail Plea
A Mumbai court has rejected the bail application of dietitian Megha Rawal, who was arrested after allegedly hitting and killing an eight-year-old boy while driving in Bandra West last week, according to a report by Loksatta – Mumbai published on September 8, 2026.

Rawal also described the incident as an unfortunate and unintentional accident. She claimed that the child suddenly came in front of the car while crossing the road, leaving her no opportunity to assess the situation or avoid the collision. She denied driving rashly or negligently.
Police opposed the bail application, arguing that the offence was serious and that the investigation was still under way. The police response alleged that Rawal had been speaking on a mobile phone while driving at high speed. Witnesses were also cited as saying that the child suffered severe injuries after being hit and run over by the vehicle.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected Rawal’s bail plea. The report did not provide details of the court’s full reasoning or specify the next hearing date.
Ansh was a student in Class 3 at Carmel School and was his parents’ only child, according to the police account cited by Loksatta – Mumbai. The investigation into the fatal collision is continuing.
