The Balapur Ganesh procession began in Hyderabad on Friday morning after the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi conducted a special puja at 5 am, with traffic arrangements in place along its 16-km route to Tank Bund.
The procession is passing through Balapur, Chandrayangutta, Falaknuma, Charminar, Afzalgunj, MJ Market and Abids before the idol is immersed at Tank Bund. The route covers several busy parts of the city, making traffic coordination a key operational requirement during the event.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police said the procession had commenced and was passing through Balapur Village. In a traffic alert, the department asked devotees and commuters to cooperate with police personnel deployed along the route and follow instructions issued on the roads.
Police have made arrangements in view of the procession and the expected movement of a large number of devotees. Commuters have also been advised to follow traffic regulations and avoid unnecessary diversions along the procession route.
The Balapur Ganesh laddu auction is scheduled to begin at 9.30 am. The auction attracts large crowds every year, bringing additional movement of devotees and bidders to the area during the procession-related arrangements.
The procession’s route links southern Hyderabad neighbourhoods with central areas including Charminar, Afzalgunj, MJ Market and Abids before terminating at Tank Bund. Authorities have urged road users to follow directions from personnel deployed along the route as the procession proceeds towards immersion.
