Hyderabad has emerged as the launchpad for Bajaj Auto’s latest foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the introduction of its all-new electric three-wheeler, the Bajaj GOGO Auto.
The formal unveiling of this zero-emission vehicle was graced by Telangana Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who lauded Bajaj Auto’s commitment to clean and sustainable mobility, aligning perfectly with the Telangana government’s progressive vision for a greener urban landscape and enhanced public services. Minister Prabhakar underscored Telangana’s pioneering role in promoting EV adoption under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The state’s groundbreaking initiative of offering 100 percent free registration for all categories of EVs until 2026, a first-of-its-kind policy in India, has already demonstrably spurred the sales of electric vehicles ranging from nimble two-wheelers to luxurious passenger cars. This proactive stance highlights Telangana’s commitment to fostering an environment conducive to the widespread adoption of electric mobility as a key strategy in combating urban pollution and promoting environmental sustainability.
In its broader efforts to mitigate pollution levels across the state, Telangana is actively encouraging the transition towards EVs, as well as vehicles powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), particularly along the proposed Regional Ring Road. As a tangible step in this direction, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is formulating an ambitious action plan to induct 800 electric buses into its fleet operating within Hyderabad, signalling a significant shift towards electrifying public transportation. Minister Prabhakar commended the Bajaj GOGO as a convenient, comfortable, and crucially, a sustainable commuting solution for the residents of Hyderabad, expressing optimism for a strong market reception. He further urged Bajaj Auto to explore collaborative opportunities with the Telangana government’s Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme, a significant initiative with a dedicated allocation of Rs 6,000 crore aimed at bolstering self-employment opportunities for unemployed youth. Under this scheme, aspiring entrepreneurs could potentially leverage the Bajaj GOGO as a means of establishing self-sustaining livelihoods in the burgeoning green transport sector.
In a forward-thinking approach towards facilitating the transition to electric mobility, Minister Prabhakar also suggested the introduction of vehicle exchange offers, enabling existing auto-rickshaw owners to seamlessly upgrade to the environmentally friendly Bajaj GOGO EVs. Furthermore, as a symbolic yet impactful green initiative, he recommended that Bajaj Auto consider offering a complimentary sapling with each GOGO vehicle purchase, fostering environmental consciousness among new owners and contributing to the greening of urban spaces. Speaking at the launch event, Samardeep Subandh, President of the Intra-City Business Unit at Bajaj Auto Limited, articulated the company’s vision for the electric three-wheeler segment, stating, “The launch of the all-electric Bajaj GOGO range of three-wheelers will set new benchmarks in the segment. Telangana, being one of India’s largest three-wheeler markets, is a natural launchpad for the Bajaj GOGO.”
He further elaborated on the GOGO’s compelling features, highlighting its certified range of up to 251 km, segment-first innovations, and Bajaj’s enduring legacy of reliability and comprehensive service network. Subandh emphasised that the Bajaj GOGO offers a holistic solution for customers seeking high earning potential coupled with low maintenance costs. Backed by over 75 years of trust and purpose-built EV technology, the Bajaj GOGO is positioned as the ideal choice for both drivers seeking sustainable livelihoods and passengers seeking comfortable and eco-friendly transportation options. The Bajaj GOGO is being introduced in three distinct variants – P5009, P5012, and P7012. The nomenclature provides a clear indication of the models’ characteristics, with ‘P’ denoting ‘Passenger’, ‘50’ and ‘70’ serving as size indicators, and ‘09’ and ‘12’ representing the battery capacities of 9 kWh and 12 kWh, respectively. The name ‘GOGO’ itself symbolises the vibrancy and dynamism of India’s evolving three-wheeler segment and reflects Bajaj Auto’s deep-rooted commitment to innovation, cultural relevance, and unwavering reliability.
The passenger vehicle variants P5009, priced at Rs 3,26,797, and P7012, priced at Rs 3,83,004, are now readily available for purchase, with bookings open at all authorised Bajaj Auto dealerships across India. Adding to the customer confidence, Bajaj Auto is offering a comprehensive 5-year battery warranty on the GOGO range, underscoring their commitment to the longevity and performance of their electric three-wheelers. The launch of the Bajaj GOGO in Hyderabad marks a significant step towards cleaner urban mobility, aligning with both the manufacturer’s and the state government’s vision for a sustainable future.
