Andhra Pradesh rainfall intensified under the influence of Cyclone Arnab, with 36 locations recording extremely heavy rainfall, 143 receiving very heavy rainfall and 205 reporting heavy rainfall, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
Kannurupalem in Anakapalli district recorded the highest rainfall at 26.1 cm. Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district and Mudassarlova in Visakhapatnam district followed with 25.9 cm each.
Several other locations also recorded rainfall above 20 cm. Tadi and Parawada in Anakapalli district received 24.5 cm each, while Somalingampalem and Achutapuram recorded 23.9 cm each. Simhachalam in Visakhapatnam district received 23.6 cm, and Chamalapalle recorded 23.5 cm.
The rainfall was also heavy across parts of Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. Vepada in Vizianagaram received 22.7 cm, while Padmanabhapuram in Visakhapatnam recorded 22.5 cm. Desapatrunipalem in Anakapalli received 22.4 cm, followed by Kothavalasa in Vizianagaram with 22.3 cm.
The reported rainfall pattern covers several coastal and adjoining areas, including locations in Anakapalli, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. The concentration of extremely heavy rainfall observations across these districts places local drainage, roads and other civic systems under pressure, although the report did not provide details of damage, casualties, transport disruption or evacuation measures.
The rainfall measurements underline the intensity and geographic spread of the weather event. The next official updates will be important for establishing whether the conditions lead to flooding, infrastructure disruption or further impacts on residents in the affected districts.
