AI in cancer care and advanced medical physics were highlighted as increasingly important to precision-driven treatment at a two-day conference held in Hyderabad on September 26 and 27.
Organised by the Department of Radiation Oncology at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, the annual conference of the Association of Medical Physicists of India’s Telangana and Andhra Pradesh chapters brought together medical physicists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, technical experts and healthcare technology professionals.
The discussions covered radiation dosimetry, nuclear medicine, radiation safety and advanced cancer treatment techniques. These areas support the planning, calibration and safe delivery of radiation-based procedures, making medical physics an important part of modern oncology systems.
Professor M. Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Osmania University, said advanced physics, artificial intelligence and public health infrastructure needed to be integrated to build more accessible and precision-driven healthcare systems. His remarks placed the conference’s technology discussions within the wider challenge of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and access.
The meeting was held under the leadership of Dr T. Pratap Reddy, Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad. Dr B. Bhaskar Rao, CMD of KIMS Group of Hospitals, and other healthcare professionals attended the conference.
The conference provided a regional platform for medical physicists from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to discuss developments in cancer treatment technology, radiation safety and nuclear medicine.
