Ahmedabad police launched an investigation after eight schools in the city received bomb threats by email, with the messages also referring to a Diljit Dosanjh concert scheduled at Narendra Modi Stadium on November 21. The threats prompted schools to evacuate students and authorities to alert parents and local police stations.
The schools named in the report include Shri Narayan Guru School and College in Satellite, Podar International School in Chandkheda, Vidya Bharti School in Satellite and C.N. Vidyalaya in Ambawadi. The report said threats were issued against eight schools in total, although it did not identify all of them.
The emails were reportedly sent in the name of the Khalistan National Army. They warned parents not to send their children to the concert and claimed that a bomb blast would take place at 1:11 pm at a school. The message also referred to actor Amitabh Bachchan and singer Diljit Dosanjh in connection with a possible bombing, according to the report.
The incident disrupted an examination at Shri Narayan Guru School and College, where Gujarat University’s Master of Arts Semester 3 examination was scheduled to begin at 11 am. Around 750 candidates were initially prevented from entering the campus while the bomb squad conducted checks.
Candidates were allowed onto the campus after the bomb squad’s inspection, according to the report. The immediate response highlights how a threat directed at schools can affect not only students and staff but also examination schedules, parents, traffic movement and the operation of education facilities across different parts of the city.
Ahmedabad District Education Officer Rohit Chaudhary instructed schools that received threatening emails to inform their nearest police station immediately. Schools were also directed to move all children to safety and hand them over to their parents, while cooperating with the police investigation.
The report did not state whether any explosive device had been found or identify the person or group responsible for sending the emails. Police action and further security assessments will determine whether the threats were credible and whether additional arrangements are required at the affected schools and the stadium ahead of the November 21 concert.
