Ahmedabad-Hanoi Direct Flights Begin With Four Weekly Services

Ahmedabad-Hanoi direct flights have begun from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, establishing the first direct air connection between Gujarat and Vietnam. Vietnam Airlines operated the inaugural service on 3 November, with flights scheduled four days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The new route makes Ahmedabad the airline’s fifth passenger destination in India, according to the report. It gives travellers from Gujarat and surrounding markets direct access to Hanoi, while also allowing onward connections through Vietnam Airlines’ domestic and international network.

The service is expected to support travel linked to tourism, trade and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, commonly referred to as MICE travel. The route also creates a new international option for passengers who previously needed to use connecting airports to travel between Gujarat and Vietnam.

Vietnam’s ambassador to India said the Ahmedabad-Hanoi service was an important step towards strengthening relations between India and Vietnam. According to the statement cited in the report, the new air link would support tourism, trade and cultural exchange between the two countries.

The route is also significant for Ahmedabad’s role as an international aviation gateway for Gujarat. Ahmedabad International Airport Limited said the new international service would provide travellers with greater convenience and choice, while contributing to the expansion of international connectivity from the state.

Vietnam Airlines’ Indian network will give passengers travelling from Ahmedabad the option of continuing beyond Hanoi to other domestic and international destinations. The route therefore serves not only point-to-point travel between Ahmedabad and Vietnam’s capital, but also access to a wider network through the airline’s connections.

Airports are important pieces of urban and regional infrastructure because their value extends beyond the airport boundary. Direct international routes can reduce travel time for businesses, improve access for visitors and create additional connectivity for nearby cities and industrial markets. The Ahmedabad-Hanoi service adds a Southeast Asian connection to Gujarat’s international transport network, although the supplied report does not provide passenger-capacity, fare or route-demand figures.

The launch also places greater emphasis on whether the service can build sustained demand across multiple passenger segments. Tourism, commercial travel and MICE traffic will form part of the market for the route, while onward connections through Hanoi may support its use by passengers travelling beyond Vietnam.

The new service is being operated four times each week, with departures scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Further operational details, including flight timings and aircraft capacity, were not provided in the supplied report.
