A protection wall and part of a residential building’s wall reportedly collapsed near the Shayona Tilak 3, 4 and 5 flats on Vande Mataram Road in Ahmedabad’s Gota area on November 1, 2026, after deep excavation at an adjoining construction site. No casualties were reported, but residents left the building after the collapse raised fears about the stability of the structure.
The incident occurred near Aagam Party Plot, where a residential building called Park View is under construction. According to a report by Divya Bhaskar – Ahmedabad, the protection wall built around the construction site suddenly gave way in the morning. The wall on the side of Shayona Tilak 3 flats also collapsed.
Residents reportedly heard a loud noise when the walls fell and moved out of the building as a precaution. The fire brigade was informed, following which two fire brigade vehicles reached the site. The report did not state whether the building had been formally evacuated or whether any municipal or structural safety authority had issued further instructions.
The collapse affected ground along the construction-side portion of the flats. The report said that soil inside the residential premises also gave way and that the damage extended towards the pillars of the building. These details prompted concern among residents because the excavation was reportedly being carried out for underground construction at the Park View site.
Residents expressed anger over what they described as negligence by the builder and concerns about the way work was being conducted next to an occupied residential complex. The report attributed the account of the excavation and the alleged negligence to sources and residents; it did not include a response from the builder or establish whether any violation had been confirmed by an authority.
Construction sites involving deep excavation next to existing buildings require protective measures to prevent soil movement and damage to neighbouring structures. In this case, the protection wall was reportedly intended to separate the excavation area from the adjoining flats, but its collapse was followed by damage to the nearby residential wall and ground. The available report does not specify the depth of the excavation, the engineering method used, the project’s approval status or whether a structural inspection was ordered.
The incident also leaves several immediate questions unresolved, including whether residents were allowed to return, whether the affected building was assessed by qualified structural engineers and what measures would be taken to secure the excavation. The report said there were no casualties and that fire brigade teams reached the location, but it did not provide details of any subsequent action by the builder or civic authorities.
