Agra Cantt Express Diverted from Ahmedabad on October 12

The Agra Cantt Express will run on a diverted route from Ahmedabad on October 12 because of technical work between Gandhigram and Sabarmati railway stations, extending the journey for passengers travelling towards Agra Cantt.

Train number 12548, the Gandhigram–Agra Cantt Express, is scheduled to depart from Gandhigram at 4.40 pm. Instead of following its usual route through Chandkheda and Mehsana, the train will be diverted via Botad, Surendranagar, Viramgam and Mehsana, according to a report by Gujarat Samachar – Ahmedabad.

The diversion follows a block taken by the railway authorities to carry out technical work on the section between Gandhigram and Sabarmati. The change affects the train’s route after its departure from Gandhigram and requires it to cover a longer distance before continuing towards Agra Cantt.

Passengers have been warned to expect an increase in travel time because of the additional distance. The report said the change could also affect the train’s arrival and departure timings at different stations along the route. However, the railway authorities have not provided an official figure for the total increase in journey time.

The operational impact is significant for passengers boarding at Gandhigram and other scheduled stations, particularly those with onward travel plans or time-sensitive connections. Changes to the route may alter the train’s expected arrival at stations, although the available information does not specify revised timings for individual stops.

The diversion also highlights the operational dependence of long-distance rail services on works carried out on busy railway sections. A temporary technical block can require trains to be routed through alternative corridors, adding distance and making the published timetable less reliable for the affected service.

Railway authorities have asked passengers to check the latest route and timing information before leaving home or finalising their travel plans. Travellers using train number 12548 on October 12 should therefore verify the service status and revised timings through the latest railway information before proceeding to the station.
