Adani’s Maharashtra Investment Plan Crosses ₹6 Trillion

The Adani Group has announced a Maharashtra investment blueprint exceeding ₹6 trillion, with projects worth more than ₹2.6 trillion already completed or under execution, according to Pranav Adani, director of Adani Enterprises. The announcement was made at the launch of the Invest Maharashtra event in Mumbai on Thursday.

Adani said the wider plan covers energy, aviation and aero-districts, urban regeneration, data centres and coal gasification. He said the group’s investment commitments had been made through state partnerships and at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The aviation component includes the management of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and the development of Navi Mumbai International Airport. Adani said the greenfield airport was designed to support the growth of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and handle more than 90 million passengers annually.

He said integrated airport business and hospitality districts were being developed around the two aviation gateways. According to Adani, these districts are intended to connect airport infrastructure with urban mobility and commercial activity. The statement did not provide a project-wise investment breakdown, construction schedule or completion timeline for the proposed districts.

The group also highlighted its electricity distribution operations in Mumbai. Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd supplies power to more than 3 million homes and establishments, Adani said. He added that more than 60 per cent of the electricity supplied by the company comes from renewable energy sources.

Adani also referred to a 1,000-megawatt High Voltage Direct Current transmission link, describing it as a system intended to bring resilient, renewable power into Mumbai’s financial core and reduce exposure to outages. He further mentioned pumped-storage hydro initiatives in Maharashtra as part of the group’s plan for round-the-clock green baseload power.

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project was another major initiative cited in the announcement. Adani described it as an ambitious urban transformation project, but the statement did not provide details on the number of homes, rehabilitation arrangements, construction phases or delivery milestones in the project.

Taken together, the projects span several systems that shape the Mumbai Metropolitan Region: airport capacity, electricity distribution, transmission infrastructure, redevelopment and commercial development. The scale of the announcement places particular importance on how investment commitments are converted into approved projects, construction activity and operational assets.

Adani said the Invest Maharashtra event would help the state create a mechanism to convert investor intent into on-ground execution. The announcement did not specify the institutional process, monitoring framework or deadlines that would govern the implementation of the ₹6 trillion blueprint. Further project-level details and execution milestones will determine how much of the announced investment moves from commitment to delivery.
