Mumbai Firms Brandworks And SandLogic Collaborate To Build Full-Stack Edge AI Hardware

Mumbai-based Brandworks Technologies and Bengaluru’s SandLogic Technologies have joined forces to develop full-stack edge AI hardware designed and manufactured in India. The collaboration aims to create AI-enabled devices for voice assistants, smart mobility, and IoT systems, focusing on on-device processing to enhance speed, security, and offline functionality. This partnership marks a significant step in India’s push toward self-reliant, high-tech electronics and positions the country as a growing hub for advanced AI hardware innovation.

The joint venture will leverage Brandworks’ expertise in product design, hardware architecture, and manufacturing alongside SandLogic’s capabilities in edge AI chips, low-power co-processors, and multilingual speech intelligence. By performing computations locally on devices rather than relying on cloud processing, these solutions promise faster response times, improved data control, and reduced energy demand, aligning with sustainable technology objectives for urban infrastructure and connected devices.Industry experts observe that edge AI represents a strategic shift in India’s electronics ecosystem. “Localised AI processing is essential for secure, efficient smart devices,” said an official familiar with the partnership. “This approach not only strengthens technological self-reliance but also supports India’s broader urban digitalisation goals by making connected infrastructure more resilient and energy-conscious.”

The first batch of co-developed hardware is expected to launch in 2026, focusing on mobility, home automation, and educational applications. By embedding AI capabilities directly into devices, the initiative addresses critical urban challenges such as low-latency transport systems, accessible home technology, and inclusive digital learning platforms. SandLogic’s AI expertise, combined with Brandworks’ design-led manufacturing, positions the venture to meet growing demand for intelligent, energy-efficient, and secure electronics in Indian cities.Beyond domestic impact, the partnership aims to strengthen India’s presence in the global AI hardware market. Brandworks Technologies will participate in CES 2026 in Las Vegas, presenting automotive and electric mobility solutions to international OEMs and technology partners. Observers note that showcasing India-developed edge AI hardware on a global stage underscores the country’s emergence as a credible player in smart device innovation, supporting both urban development and sustainable technology adoption.

The collaboration also highlights the potential for environmentally responsible electronics production. On-device AI reduces continuous cloud dependency, lowering electricity consumption and network load, while enabling devices to operate securely in offline or low-connectivity environments. “Our vision is to combine advanced AI with sustainable, user-friendly hardware that benefits citizens and urban ecosystems alike,” an executive from SandLogic said.As India accelerates its transition from assembly-led manufacturing to full-stack electronics innovation, partnerships like Brandworks and SandLogic’s demonstrate how urban technology development can integrate efficiency, security, and sustainability. The project exemplifies the country’s growing capacity to produce zero-carbon, intelligent, and inclusive digital infrastructure for the cities of the future.
