Noida Ground Transportation Centre Nears Completion Ahead Of Airport Commercial Launch

The Noida International Airport (NIA) is on track to inaugurate its Ground Transportation Centre (GTC) ahead of the commencement of commercial flights by the end of 2025. Spread over 20 acres between two terminals, the GTC is designed to consolidate all ground-level transport services, offering seamless connectivity for passengers. Officials say the facility draws inspiration from global hubs like London Heathrow and Frankfurt Airport and will initially accommodate around 1,200 vehicles, including cabs, taxis, and buses.

The operator, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), has entered agreements with the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, Haryana and Uttarakhand roadways, alongside private mobility providers including Uber, Rapido, and Mahindra. These arrangements ensure buses and cabs will be operational from the first day, linking the airport with key cities in western Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. Parking infrastructure for these services is already nearing completion, signalling readiness for launch operations. The GTC is envisioned as a centralised mobility hub integrating multiple transport modes. Plans include an underground metro station and a Namo Bharat train link, while the concourse above will host retail outlets, dining facilities, and lounges. In its full phased development over five years, the GTC is expected to handle nearly 50,000 vehicles, including 4,500 cars, 40 buses, and numerous two-wheelers, providing a sustainable solution for airport connectivity.

Meanwhile, construction at the airport itself is nearing completion. The 3,900-metre runway and air traffic control tower are operational, while the terminal building, spanning 100,000 square metres, is in its final stages with glass façades, boarding bridges, baggage handling systems, e-gates, and security scanners already installed. Key infrastructure including power, water, internal roads, taxiways, firefighting systems, fuel facilities, and airside security is complete, and the Central Industrial Security Force has assumed responsibility for safety. Authorities anticipate receiving the aerodrome licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) within ten days, enabling commercial operations to begin within 45 days of the scheduled inauguration on 30 October. Officials emphasise that collaborative planning with all agencies is ensuring both operational efficiency and a secure, eco-conscious environment at the airport.

Experts highlight that the GTC will not only enhance passenger convenience but also support sustainable urban mobility by reducing congestion, promoting shared transportation, and integrating public and private transit systems. With the Noida airport emerging as a key hub for northern India, the GTC is positioned to become a benchmark in modern, sustainable airport infrastructure.
