Bihar To Launch Purnia Patna Vande Bharat Train Soon
Bihar is set to get another Vande Bharat Express train, strengthening the state’s fast-growing network of modern rail connectivity. The Ministry of Railways has confirmed that the new service will run between Patna Junction and Purnia, offering a faster and more efficient travel option for thousands of passengers in the region.
The upcoming addition is part of a broader expansion of semi-high-speed trains designed to reduce travel time and provide a reliable alternative to road transport. Officials from the East Central Railway (ECR) zone, which will operate and maintain the train, emphasised that the service will improve regional accessibility and further integrate Bihar into the national high-speed rail grid. Currently, Bihar hosts 26 operational Vande Bharat Express services that connect key destinations such as Ranchi, Howrah, Varanasi, Deoghar, New Jalpaiguri, Gaya, Jamalpur, Gomti Nagar, Gorakhpur and Tatanagar. With the Purnia–Patna addition, the state’s position as a growing hub for modern rail infrastructure will be further consolidated.
Transport analysts highlight that Vande Bharat trains not only accelerate passenger mobility but also contribute to long-term economic and environmental goals. The fully air-conditioned, energy-efficient coaches are designed with regenerative braking technology, which reduces carbon emissions and positions them as a greener alternative in comparison to conventional diesel-based transport.
