Noida UPSRTC Launches 50 Special Buses from July 10 for Kanwariyas to Uttarakhand
The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to launch a dedicated fleet of special buses from July 10, catering specifically to the needs of Kanwariyas embarking on their annual pilgrimage to Haridwar and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand. This initiative aims to significantly enhance the convenience and safety of thousands of devotees, particularly from Noida and the wider Delhi NCR region, who undertake this spiritual journey to collect holy water from the Ganges during the auspicious month of Sawan. The provision of these specialised transport services underscores a proactive approach to facilitating large-scale religious gatherings while prioritising public welfare and safety.
These special buses will operate at frequent intervals of half an hour, running from 5 am to 9 pm, ensuring consistent availability for pilgrims. A total of 40 buses will be deployed for this purpose, with an additional 10 vehicles kept in reserve to manage any unforeseen demand or operational contingencies. To further assist the devotees, a dedicated help desk will be established at the Noida depot premises, offering comprehensive information regarding bus schedules, routes, and other essential details. This logistical planning is crucial for managing the significant influx of pilgrims and ensuring a smooth travel experience for all.
A key feature of this special bus service is the inclusion of specific provisions for vulnerable passenger groups. The buses will be equipped with facilities designed to cater to the needs of women and the elderly, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey. Furthermore, conductors on these buses will be mandated to inquire about the health of elderly passengers, providing an additional layer of care and attention. To maintain the highest standards of safety, stringent measures are being implemented for the operational staff. Drivers and conductors assigned to these special buses will undergo mandatory breath analyser tests to check for alcohol consumption. This strict protocol is designed to ensure that all personnel operating these services are in optimal condition, thereby safeguarding the lives and well-being of the thousands of pilgrims who will rely on these buses. Additionally, sharp objects such as spears or tridents will be strictly prohibited.
