In a significant stride towards bolstering the nation’s infrastructure, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, unveiled four pivotal projects collectively valued at Rs 1,885.51 crore.
These transformative initiatives, delineated through a series of social media posts on the X platform (formerly Twitter), span across Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Assam, marking strategic interventions in road development and transportation augmentation.
Karnataka: An allocation of Rs 576.22 crore has been earmarked for the four-laning endeavour spanning from Yedegowdanahalli to Arjunahalli on National Highway-373 within Hassan district. Encompassing a stretch of 22.3 kilometres, this project assumes heightened significance as a pivotal corridor linking prominent tourist destinations including Chikamagaluru, Belur, Halebeedu, and Shravanabelagola. Minister Gadkari highlighted its potential to enhance regional connectivity and bolster tourism infrastructure.
Madhya Pradesh: Furthering the infrastructural agenda, Rs 188.95 crore has been sanctioned for the development, operation, and maintenance of an existing ropeway between Ujjain Junction Railway Station and Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain district. This transformative initiative aims to streamline transportation, particularly during peak pilgrimage seasons, reducing travel time to a mere 7 minutes and facilitating seamless transit for 64,000 pilgrims daily.
Gujarat: In a bid to fortify connectivity networks, an infusion of Rs 699.19 crore has been directed towards upgrading the Khokhra Gujarat Border – Vijayanagar – Antarsuba – Mathasur Road section of National Highway 58 in Palanpur, Gujarat. Operating under the Hybrid Annuity model, this initiative underscores the criticality of National Highway-58 in linking Gujarat and Rajasthan, while also serving as a conduit to esteemed landmarks including the Ambaji Temple, Udaipur, and Polo Forest.
Assam: Lastly, the Ministry has sanctioned Rs 421.15 crore for the construction of a four-lane Gauripur Bypass along NH-17 (New)/NH-31(Old) in Dhubri district, Assam. Spanning 9.61 kilometres, this bypass aims to alleviate congestion in Gauripur town and mitigate risks posed by sharp bends on the current highway, thereby amplifying safety measures and fostering smoother vehicular movement. This concerted effort underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure across diverse regions, fostering economic growth, and enhancing connectivity networks vital for national development.
