The Telangana government has approved the Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 project with a total outlay of Rs 19579 crore. This ambitious expansion aims to cover 60.77 km of new metro corridors, connecting key areas across the city. The project is a joint venture between the state and central governments, with international funding agencies also playing a role. The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) component of the program amounts to 4 percent, equating to Rs 783 crore.

The remaining funding is sourced through loans and contributions from the state and central governments. The expansion is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion, reduce carbon emissions, and provide a reliable mode of transport for the city’s growing population. With the approval in place, the project is set to commence, marking a pivotal step towards a more sustainable and efficient urban transport system in Hyderabad.

This development underscores the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and promoting sustainable urban growth. As the project progresses, it is anticipated to bring about transformative changes in the city’s transportation landscape, benefiting residents and visitors alike.
