Mumbai Local Trains Delayed Amid Heavy Rainfall

Mumbai’s local train services are experiencing significant delays today, June 16, 2025, due to heavy rainfall affecting the city since Sunday night. Commuters on the Central, Harbour, and Western lines are advised to check the latest updates before traveling, as services are running 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule.

The Central Line, connecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Kalyan, is particularly affected, with trains running 15 to 20 minutes late. Overnight downpours have led to waterlogging between tracks at several locations, necessitating reduced speeds for safety. Similarly, Harbour Line services between Panvel and CSMT are delayed by 5 to 10 minutes, while Western Line services are running 5 to 10 minutes behind schedule.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Palghar, and Thane, forecasting moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the day. The administration has appealed to the public to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel. Despite the adverse weather conditions, no major traffic jams have been reported. However, vehicle movement remains slow, and commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.

Authorities are working to restore normalcy, but delays and cancellations may persist due to the ongoing weather conditions. Commuters are urged to stay updated with the latest train schedules and weather alerts before heading out. The situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as necessary.
