Katra Srinagar Vande Bharat Express Surpasses 30000 Passengers

The newly inaugurated Vande Bharat Express on the Katra–Srinagar route has garnered an overwhelming response, with over 30,000 passengers having travelled since its commercial launch on June 7. The train, operating six days a week, has witnessed all seats booked for the next fortnight, underscoring the public’s enthusiasm for this modern rail service.

Designed to traverse the challenging terrains of Jammu and Kashmir, the Vande Bharat Express offers a swift and comfortable journey between Katra and Srinagar, covering the distance in approximately three hours. This significant reduction in travel time is attributed to the advanced engineering of the train and the strategic planning of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The route is distinguished by its engineering marvels, including the Chenab Bridge—the world’s highest railway bridge at 359 meters above the riverbed—and the Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge. These structures not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the journey but also symbolize the region’s infrastructural advancements.

Passenger feedback highlights the train’s modern amenities, such as ergonomic seating, onboard Wi-Fi, infotainment systems, and advanced safety features like the KAVACH anti-collision system. These facilities contribute to a superior travel experience, attracting both pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine and tourists exploring the scenic landscapes of Kashmir. The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express has had a positive impact on local economies, with increased footfall benefiting businesses and service providers along the route. The improved connectivity is also expected to bolster tourism, which had previously been affected by regional challenges.

Looking ahead, railway authorities are considering the addition of more coaches to accommodate the growing demand, particularly during peak travel periods such as the Amarnath Yatra. The success of the Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express serves as a testament to the potential of modern rail infrastructure in fostering regional development and enhancing the quality of travel experiences. As the train continues to operate, it stands as a symbol of India’s commitment to sustainable and efficient transportation solutions, contributing to the nation’s broader goals of infrastructural development and environmental responsibility.
