StoreDot, a leading extreme fast charging (XFC) battery technology company for
electric vehicles (EVs), has joined forces with Volvo Cars to pioneer a cutting-
edge battery solution for Volvo’s upcoming electric vehicle models. This
partnership will leverage the expertise of both companies to create customised
XFC cells tailored to suit Volvo’s future electric vehicle platforms.
StoreDot’s XFC batteries aim to address key challenges in EV adoption, such as
limited range and concerns about charging times. According to the company, these
batteries have the potential to charge an EV in under 10 minutes, a speed
comparable to refuelling a traditional gasoline-powered car.
StoreDot is actively advancing battery technology through its ‘100inX’ roadmap, with ambitious goals, including achieving 100 miles of charge in just 5 minutes by 2024, followed by 3 minutes in 2028, and an astonishing 2-minute charge by 2032.
StoreDot recently shared performance feedback from the assessment and
integration A-Samples testing phase of its XFC electric vehicle battery cells. This
comprehensive evaluation involved 15 prominent global automotive brands from
Europe, Asia, and the US, as well as key partners within StoreDot’s strategic
ecosystem.
This collaboration between StoreDot and Volvo holds the promise of
revolutionising the electric vehicle industry by offering lightning-fast charging
capabilities, ultimately enhancing the EV ownership experience for consumers.
