Indiramma Housing Slows in Husnabad as Only 94 Homes Finish

Indiramma housing construction in Husnabad is lagging in the constituency’s urban centre, where only 94 of 545 sanctioned houses have been completed, prompting Telangana officials to accelerate stalled work and review inactive allotments.

BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reviewed constituency development, housing construction and public petitions at the Husnabad municipal office on Saturday. The meeting covered applications received through the Prajavani grievance system, including complaints related to land, electricity, Indiramma houses and pensions.

Officials were directed to register every application and resolve it promptly. The minister also instructed them to treat applicants respectfully and warned that action would be taken against officials found negligent. Widow pensions, he said, should be implemented within 15 days.

Under the Praja Palana government, 5,500 Indiramma houses have been sanctioned for the Husnabad constituency over two years. In the first phase, 1,427 houses have been completed, while construction on another 1,346 houses has reached roof level. The review identified a sharper shortfall in Husnabad town, where 94 of the 545 sanctioned houses have been completed.

Officials were instructed to examine construction progress across all mandals and prepare proposals to cancel allotments where work has not begun. They were also told to complete stalled houses quickly. The selection process for the second phase must be completed within 10 days, followed by the issue of official proceedings.

The second phase includes 96 houses for Husnabad town and 86 for rural areas. The allocations listed at the meeting include 167 houses for Akkennapet, 192 for Koheda, 173 for Chigurumamidi, 159 for Saidapur, 188 for Bheemadevarapalli and 158 for Elkathurthi. Officials were told to identify genuinely eligible poor families across all mandals.

Families that received a house during the first phase will not be eligible for another allotment in the second phase. Government employees and families owning more than three acres of land are also excluded under the instructions issued at the review meeting.

The minister said the objective was to develop all 173 villages in the Husnabad constituency without political considerations. Officials were directed to ensure that Deepavali celebrations are held in the 2,728 newly built Indiramma houses, with public representatives and officials participating.

The review also covered the proposed distribution of free aids to elderly people and persons with disabilities through the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India, or ALIMCO. Officials were asked to publicise the programme and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive assistance.

Other matters discussed included land allocation for government requirements, the Jalashree and oil palm programmes, and preparations to prevent drinking-water shortages during summer. Officials were instructed to prioritise public petitions received under the ‘Palle Palleku Ponna Anna – Palle Pallelo Praja Palana’ programme and coordinate the delivery of welfare schemes across the constituency.

The immediate deadlines set at the meeting are the completion of second-phase house selection within 10 days, review of inactive housing allotments and faster execution of stalled construction.
